Match report On a bright and sunny day, Northwood Town 2s Team kicked off their league campaign against Bushey with high hopes and positive energy. Winning the toss, captain elected to bat first on a promising surface.

Openers Bijendra and Jesant laid a solid foundation, rotating the strike well and dispatching anything loose. Despite their composed start, momentum took a slight hit when Bijendra was dismissed after a promising knock, putting the team in a tricky position. Harish came in at number three and offered much-needed stability. Displaying sound technique and intent, he looked set for a significant score before falling against the run of play. The innings was anchored by the experienced Deepak Raj, whose calm and calculated 55 became the cornerstone of the Town’s total. He showed great adaptability and awareness, mixing intelligent shot selection with aggressive running between the wickets. Unfortunately, the middle and lower order couldn't build on the platform laid by Deepak. A cluster of quick wickets saw Northwood Town bowled out for a competitive 170.

Defending 170: A Bowling Masterclass

With the ball, Town started with Mehul and Rudra. Bushey’s openers came out swinging, putting early pressure on the home side. A smart bowling change saw Jay come on for Mehul, and it paid dividends immediately as he picked up the first wicket, stemming the flow of runs. Rudra complemented the effort with a superb spell at the other end—tight lines, disciplined length, and relentless pressure. His efforts were rewarded with two crucial wickets, including a stunning caught-and-bowled and a sharp edge brilliantly taken by keeper Rohit diving to his right. The game turned decisively in Northwood’s favour with the introduction of Jesant into the attack. Bowling with fiery intent and laser-like accuracy, he tore through the Bushey middle order with a sensational hat-trick, sending the visitors into disarray. With the tail exposed, Harish and Deepak returned to finish the job, sharing the final wickets and sealing an emphatic 36-run victory. Bushey were all out for 134 in 34.5 overs.
