🏏 “Bailed Out” – Northwood Town Sinks in Sun at Broxbourne

Broxbourne 2nd XI – From Meh to Mayhem
After a start that screamed "Sunday League warm-up," Broxbourne somehow rallied their way to 246 for 7 – thanks largely to a combo of calm, chaos, and “how did that go for four?”
• Ollie Symms batted like he was late for a barbecue – smashing 63 off 65 with 10 crisply timed “you fetch that” fours.
• Tom Hayden looked like a man who knew his fantasy team needed points – finishing unbeaten on 58 off 55.
• Joss Rodman held the innings together with a composed 48 (he might have set up camp out there).
• And Kegan Eales opened with a brief cameo of 20 – just enough to let everyone know he brought his own bat.
Despite some solid bowling from Iqbal Anjum (2-36) and Sajid “Line and Length” Malik (2-41), Northwood’s fielding unit gifted more runs than a kids’ birthday party.

Northwood’s Chase – One Step Forward, Two Wickets Back
Chasing 247, Northwood’s innings was like a bad relationship – promising at the start, but crumbling under pressure.
• Rohit Bahl (36) and Deepak Gairola (26) got things going nicely… and then forgot what sport they were playing.
• Iqbal Anjum and Veer Vadgama both looked like they were ready to win it… right until they weren't. (Also down to I Anjum thinking he's Bolt when he hit it 10 yards straight to a fielder and got runout).
• The tail? More of a ghost story than a comeback.
Credit to Broxbourne’s bowlers who came in like debt collectors:
• Jack “The Silent Assassin” Tumbridge grabbed 3 for 32.
• Robin “Death Overs? No Problem” Glassberg also snatched 3 for 32 and ruined any hopes of a miracle.
• Warren Pegg did everything – wickets, a catch, a run out, probably made the teas too.

🧠Key Moment
Northwood at 138/5: “We’ve got this!”
20 minutes later at 151/8: “Do we still have this?”
Final score: 203 all out – answer = no, no you did not.

🎤 Post-Match Chat (Definitely Not Real)
Northwood Skipper: "We were chasing 247, but our batsmen were chasing butterflies."
Broxbourne Fan: "Didn’t think we’d hit 200, let alone win. Even the scorebook got confused."
