Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v Kings Langley CC 1st XI on Sat 22 Aug 2026 at 12:00
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report Northwood Town produced a commanding all-round performance against Kings Langley, bowling the visitors out for 145 before racing to victory at 148/2 in just 21.1 overs.

Kings Langley were asked to build a competitive total but found Northwood's bowling attack difficult to overcome. Although Harry Misselbrook provided an excellent counter-attacking innings of 42 from 36 balls, Northwood continued to take wickets at regular intervals.

Misselbrook's innings contained six fours and a six, but once he departed, Kings Langley struggled to accelerate. Chethan Dulmina (19), Naveen Samaraweera (22) and Tom Templeton (20) offered resistance, but Northwood's bowlers maintained control and eventually dismissed the visitors for 145 in 45.3 overs.

The bowling was led by Iqbal Anjum, whose superb 10-over spell yielded 2/11, while Nischay Madhavan returned 2/27 and Jack Daly 2/37. The highlight was undoubtedly Jesant Halai, who produced a remarkable 1.3 overs, three maidens, no runs and two wickets.

With 145 on the board, Northwood needed a steady start to the chase — but what followed was anything but cautious.

The early loss of Suvin Mekwan, bowled by Matthew Owens for a duck, brought Deepak Raj to the crease. Bahl made a useful 10 before being caught by Harry Misselbrook off Amit Chhalani, leaving Northwood around 20/2.

That was as good as it got for Kings Langley.

Deepak Raj took complete control of the chase, producing a spectacular unbeaten 102 from just 72 balls. His innings contained 20 fours and a six, as he dismantled the Kings Langley attack and turned the chase into a one-sided affair.

Raj was superbly supported by Jesant Halai, who finished unbeaten on 22 from 34 balls, including four boundaries.

The pair put on an unbeaten partnership that took Northwood from trouble to victory, with the hosts reaching 148/2 after just 21.1 overs.

Raj's century was the outstanding individual performance of the match, but the victory was built on a strong collective display. Northwood's bowlers had restricted Kings Langley to 145 before Raj's explosive innings ensured there was never any doubt about the result.
