Match report NORTHWOOD TOWN’S 2nd X1 began their league campaign against a very strong Langleybury 3rd X1. With the visitors’ first eleven not in action, Langleybury elected to field the majority of their second eleven and it was therefore unsurprising that they dominated the early stages.

Batting first, Town started in the worst possible way with Adam Hills dismissed in the first over. Skipper Dave Harding (22) knuckled down and was supported by Pradip Pandey (16) and Sumeet Khetia (16). At the 40 over stage Town were in a precarious position at 80-7. However, debutants Neil Cheesewright (27) and Mitesh Parmar (23) stepped up to produce a partnership of 41 and with late contributions from Jack Daly and Neal Furmenger, the hosts finished on a creditable 143-9 off their 53 overs.

In reply, Neal Furmenger rolled back the years with an admirable bowling display, having the opposition batsmen playing and missing with regularity. Furmenger picked up two wickets before the heavens opened and the game was abandoned with Town receiving a well deserved 10 points.
