Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v Old Owens II on Sat 12 Jun 2010 at 1.00 pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost by 9 wickets

Match report NTTC 2's were again having to reflect on a very poor bowling performance after suffering a humiliating 9 wicket defeat aginst a strong Old Owens 2's.On being asked to bat the Town immediately lost skipper Dave Harding to a foolish run out. Towns misfortunes continued when Glenn Hodges brief but belligerent innings of 18 was ended by an unplayable ball from Owen's Millard.

Adam Hills and Ruk Senanayaka then set about rebuilding the innings with some combined attacking and resolute batting against a probing Old Owens attack. Their partnership of 72 for the third wicket came to close when Hills who seemed set for a big score was out for 36, shortly followed by Senanayaka for 27. For the second week running the Town in a fairly comfortable mid - innings position lost their way with only minor mid wicket contributions from Pradip Pandey with 11 and Rao Ganisetti with 15 until at 140 for 8 Sumeet Khetia was joined by Taz Katira. From a seemily poor position the pair produced a very disciplined ninth partnership of 35 until Katira was out for 10 trying to force the pace in the last overs.Town's innings shortly ended with a very creditable 177 on the board with Khetia finishing with a great 29 not out.

Having restored some creditibility with their batting Town set about to restore more pride with a fine bowling performance but alas this was not so. Towns opening attack of Hills and Abbasi despite bowling several wicket taking balls were wayward in direction and Old Owens soon had 60 on the board in less than 10 overs. From this position Old Owens openers of Sibley and Lee continued their attacking partnership and despite skipper Dave Harding introducing six other bowlers changes no one was capable of putting a hold on this run spree. The indisciplined bowling continued to give the batsman too many scoring opportunities and when the Town were offered catching chances fielding lapses meant these were not taken.Old Owens were therefore able to surpass Town's score for the loss of just one wicket with opener Sibley finishing with 94 not out.

Captain Dave Harding was left to reflect on yet another disappointing performance from the side with the ball after a fine batting display and emphasied that individual players had to start looking at their own personal game and become more focused in their approach if the Town were going to start to put together some match winning performances.
