Match report It was honours even in the away game at Wormley, a game that was played in good spirits and one that threw up a number of 'Cricketing Firsts!'

Skipper Cheesewright put Wormley into bat and opened with the 'experienced' bowling attack of Harding and Furmenger with a combined age of a mere 102 years, surely a first! After a slow start it was Dave Harding that gave the breakthrough bagging a much needed wicket. Bobby Graham then chalked up his first, 2's wicket as a result of a smart catch by the sprightly Mike Fidler. But then 'enter stage right Mr Neal Furmenger!' Undoubtedly a star performer, he didn't fail to deliver. Bowling 26 overs straight from one end, his persistent line and length frustrated the Wormley batsmen and one by one they fell. Remarkably, within his spell he presented 6 catches to Conor O'Neill, all in the same position at extra cover only to receive a 50% return. At the end of the Wormley innings, Furmenger accepted the plaudits and returned incredible figures of 6-39 off 26 overs! Town's target of 179 was surely within reach?

An indifferent start to the Towns innings allowed Wormley to take the initiative and its was only with the impressive knocks by Andy Burt (39) and Pradip Pandey (43, continuing his fine form with the bat) that they brought stability to the run chase. Then, with the over-cast weather conditions and cheap wickets fallings, the draw was now the target. It was left to Conor O'Neill and Skipper Cheesewright to block out the last 7.3 overs in true Panesar/Anderson-esque style! Objective achieved, Town finished on 139-9, the draw in the bag and the Skipper pleased with the spirit shown on the day.

For sure, the target was achievable, but this was a game that offered many signs of encouragement, despite the 6 drop catches! Conor O'Neill bowled 10 impressive overs. It was good to see Mr Filder back in action after a year out and of course the star man Furmenger, brought much needed parity to the Town bowling attack. Bring on next week!
