Match report
LANGLEYBURY 2ND X1 95 NORTHWOOD TOWN 53
RICHARD DOLING 5-36
TOWN'S 1ST X1 suffered a calamity of a saturday as they failed to chase a score of less than 100 for a second time this season. Although still early in the season, Town know they will face a big relegation fight unless they buck their batting ideas up - skipper David Bushnell admitted the team needs an 'overhaul' unless form dramatically changes.
Fielding first, Town's bowlers once again performed admirably, backed up by a decent fielding performance. Richard Doling took 5-36 off 16 overs whilst Bushnell took 3-20 off 17 as the hosts found themselves reeling.
At 22-5, Langlebury should have been dead and buried and only Dhruva (35) for the opposition really made a score and that was the start of a terrific match for him. His contribution helped the hosts up to 95 all out, which in normal
circumstances should never be enough.
Town's batting this season has never been domineering and as Langleybury elected to open with two spinners and the old ball, they found themselves in a tangle again. Openers Raj Ahluwalia and Scott Walker went without
troubling the scorers and the scene was set. The visitors imploded as they collapsed to 12-5 and 13-6. A brief cameo from Craig Newman (23) gave some respectability but it was nowhere near enough as Town found themselves
humiliated and dismissed for 53. Dhruva took an impressive 8 wickets for the hosts.
