Match report June 23th 2012, league match number seven of fourteen for the Mighty 3s. Match played at home against Wheathampstead (WH3).

WH3 won the toss and invited Town to bat first. D.Harding (5) had settled in well but was unlucky to be run out at the bowlers end by a lucky flick of the bolwer’s hand. S.Thakrar (29, 4x4s) provided an excellent start before being caught out to a great a catch at mid on. T.Katira (22, 1x4s) provided some good resistance and ensured the scoreboard ticked along. Town sadly continued to lose wickets in quick successions and after 38 overs were on 89 runs with 7 wickets down. A.Firife (25 not out,1x4s) and M.Parmar(8) provided some excellent acceleration resulting in Town posting a modest total of 129 runs after 47 overs.

Defending a total of 130 was never going to be easy, particular with Town missing two of their key bowlers. Town’s M.Parmar and M.Vadgama put up a valiant guard; but WH3’s P.Griffiths(52) cool and collective opening spell, support by L.Garland and R.Evans ensured WH3 made light work of the run chase.

WH3 were very worthy winners resulting in the first loss for the Mighty 3s this season. Time for the team to regroup and focus on the next match.
