Ickleford IV v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 30 Jun 2012 at 1.00pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report June 30th 2012, league match number 8 for the Mighty 3s. Match played away at Hoo Farm against Ickleford IV (IK4).

After Last weeks loss, 3’s were keen to make amends. With the 3’s skipper out with injury P.Tailor took over. Town won the toss and elected to bowl and the key message to the players was to have fun and enjoy the game. M.Parmar and M.Vadgama opened up the bowling, IK4 opening pair started off aggressive and put the runs up quickly, however M. Parmar and M.Vadgama were in no mood to be hit and started to take wickets, both bowlers were competing against each other about who can take the most wickets, instead of town looking at the scoreboard we were all keeping tab over who was winning this wicket taking battle. M. Parmar bowled out one batsman then M. Vadgama bowled out 3 batsmen. The score at 3-1 to M. Vadgama, M. Parmar had to take wickets quickly to equal the score and took two amazing catches of his own bowling to leave the score at 3-3 at the end of their first bowling spell. S. Malik was bought in to bowl and he bowled superbly, his figures do not reflect is match performance, he should have been rewarded with wickets and several of the runs scored off his bowling were due to over throws. P.Tailor bowled from the other end and struggled in the wind and his usual line and length were non-existent. So after 3 overs S. Khetia was introduced to support S. Malik. S. Khetia had a great spell of bowling and was rewarded with 2 wickets. M. Vadgama was re-introduced to the bowling and was rewarded with a wicket quickly with an amazing catch at short extra cover by S. Thakrar. After this wicket M. Parmar was in the skippers ear about getting back in the action to ensure the bowling competition was not won by M. Vadgama, however another wicket followed a few balls later and M. Vadgama won this battle 5-3. IK4 had posted 89 runs.

J. Bentvelzen and S. Thakrar opened up the batting for Town chasing 90 to win and batted well posting 29 runs after 8 overs before J. Bentvelzen (6, 1x4)was caught behind. S. Khetia entered the frame and both batsmen looked good before S. Thakrar (28, 4x4) was given LBW. Boom Boom S. Malik now walked to the middle and wanted to bring the game to a close quickly. Both batsmen hit excellent powerful shots to chase down the score quickly. S. Malik (9*, 2x4) hit the winning runs, however the excellent innings of S. Khetia (35*, 6x4) made sure Town won the game comfortable and rounded off what was an excellent day in the office with both bat and ball.
