Match report July 28th 2012, league match number twelve for the Mighty 3s. This match was an away match played against Watford Town IV (WT4). Town lost the toss and was invited to bowl first.

Town’s super reliable M.Parmar (11ovrs, 5mdn, 12runs, 4wkts) delivered yet another fine exemplar of line and length bowling. M.Vadgama (9ovrs, 2mdn, 25runs, 1wkts), T.Katira (6ovrs, 2mdn, 11runs, 2wkts) and J.Sagoo (4.4ovrs, 1mdn, 13runs, 1wkts) provided solid support taking wickets regularly. Town fielders, as ever, backed the bowlers all the way and were rewarded with two good run outs. Other than WT4’s D.Curry none of their batsman looked comfortable against the Town’s bowling attack, resulting in WT4 being dismissed with just 67runs on the board.

With a target of just 68 Town fancied their chances of bagging yet another win. WT4s’ A.Khan (6ovrs, 1mdn, 16runs, 2wkts) and D.Curry (9ovrs, 1mdn, 19runs, 3wkts) had other plans. They rattled through Town top five batsmen, aided and abetted by some interesting umpiring decisions by Town umpires. Town’s wickets fell at 6, 9, 11, 18 runs. With the score on 18 for 5wkts there was only one man who stopped the rot and saved the day and that was Dave “The Legend” Harding. His cool, collected and highly experienced mindset and stroke play helped Town secure another solid victory.

Just two more matches left before the end of the league season for the Mighty 3s. So as we approach the home straight we need to ensure we keep the winning sprit going and fight to the end!
