Match report NORTHWOOD TOWN suffered a six wicket defeat away at Bishop's Stortford after another dreadful batting performance let them down again. Losing the toss, Town were asked to bat and Raj Ahluwalia and Brendan Heaney once again began patiently in an attempt to build a platform for the rest of the team to take advantage of. Heaney was snared fairly early so Rohan Lee took up the mantle with Ahluwalia but whilst both stayed solid, they became bogged down by dogged bowling from the hosts. Ahluwalia (15) tried to up the pace but was dismissed in doing so which allowed Phil Costard to come to the crease. Costard (23) and Lee began pushing on but once Lee (31) was dismissed, Town were in a decisive position at 70-3 off 27 overs. However, rather than using the last half of their innings productively, the middle order once again failed miserably and the visitors were looking in desperate trouble at 95-8. Richard Doling (18) and Johanes Van Ee (15) put up something of a rearguard action but Town were eventually dismissed for a limp looking 129.

In reply Stortford gave the visitors two golden opportunities for a wicket early on but both chances went down and from there the hosts never looked back. Dominic Whyley finally got a breakthrough but the openers had put on 70 by then. Two Dave Bushnell wickets and one from Van Ee exerted some sort of late pressure but by then it was a walk in the park for the hosts and they eased home with six wickets in hand.

Ahluwalia lamented the batting performance not for the first time this season:
"Everyone needs to take responsibility and its not fair on the bowlers to give them such low scores to defend. We need some big individual performances in the coming weeks"
