Match report TOWN'S 2nd X1 were given a brutal lesson by high flying Harpenden as they went down by nine wickets.

Batting first, Jim Cotton (37) and Akshay Loomba (23) started well with an opening partnership of 46. However, with skipper Phil Carter suffering a golden duck, Town suffered their usual collapse and found themselves in trouble at 95-5. Alan Armitage once again showed some fight and carved out 36 whilst son Jonno hit a cameo 20 before the visitors were dismissed for 183.

In reply, Town's lack of bowling options were totally exposed and a lone Jack Daly wicket was all they had to show as the hosts eased home with nine wickets in hand.

Skipper Carter was unimpressed with the performance:
"It was a dreadful bowling performance and it is vital we improve in the next month if we are to stay up."
