Match report Encouraging performances despite season opening loss.

In the bright sunshine, returning 2's Skipper Neil Cheesewright, lost the toss and was invited to bat first.

A steady start with the bat brought some solid knocks from openers R. Patel (18), Thakrar (18) followed by Ramawat (22) and then the lively Burt with a quick fire 28. Unfortunately for town it was down hill from then on with none of the remaining order able to get into double figures. Town were bowled out for 125.

After a great tea, town entered the field buoyant with the knowledge that there was plenty of remaining life on a very green wicket. This proved the case as the barnstorming Malik run in with 2 quick wickets with pace and seem. At the other end, the eclectic bowling of Khetia produced a further pair of wickets and in no time at all Town had the opposition at 8-4! With energy in abundance, the field was roared on by the impressive Krunal Patel backed up by some able fielding from Mikhil Patel and Vice skipper Firfire.

The introduction of the evergreen Pandey and his array of movement with the ball saw fresh opportunities created. Alas, catches could not be held and the momentum switched to the opposition. The impressive batting of Ealing's Kazan & Fazal and an ensemble of boundaries, steered the oppo's home without further loss of wickets.

With an enjoyable game played in a good spirit, Town's skipper Cheesewright had plenty to be pleased with...
"It is a well used phrase, but catches can win matches, and on any other day those opportunities would have stuck and the outcome may have been different. Overall I was impressed with the application and enthusiasm throughout the team, however there is still much work to do ahead of the first league game.”
