Match report It was a question of missed opportunities in the field as Town took the league leaders all the way in this home fixture to North Enfield II.

Winning the toss, Town skipper Neil Cheesewright elected to bat first. A mixed start saw the fall of 2 early wickets without troubling the score, but it was the third wicket partnership of 112 from Mekwan and Burt that really ignited the innings. With some considered batting, mixed in with the usual flair shots that these two batsmen present the score raced along. Alas, once Mekwan fell for 68 (6 x4's, 1 x 6) followed by Burt and his new bat for 73 (11 x 4's), the middle order failed to maintain the momentum and the innings floundered. It was then left to the excellent Mapara (14) and Manek (14) at the tail, to take the score up to a respectable 199 - 9 at the end of the 53 overs.

North Enfield certainly staked their intention early by spraying shots to all parts. The loss of the new ball into a neighbouring garden after 6 overs proved crucial as the batsmen capitalised with a softer, older ball. But Town steadfastly stuck to the task in hand, with some excellent ground fielding and hugely improved personal performances from previous weeks. Mopara then struck with the score on 14, destroying the stumps of the vociferous D. Sanders. From then on it was the tale of dropped catches that was to determine the match. North Enfield bat Aziz making the most of this being dropped 4 times along the way to accumulating 94.

Syed & Manek would join the bowling party with a wicket a piece and with Mekwan bagging 3 wickets at the end, North Enfield were wobbling at 191 - 6 with only 18 balls remaining. The field was now in full voice after seeing Burt's cat-like reflexes at first slip to hold on to a catch to dismiss the North Enfield skipper. It was to be the final cheer however as the target was reached soon after. 200 - 6 off 44.5.

Town skipper Neil Cheesewright at the end of the match; "I was hugely encouraged with the improved ground fielding and application of the side today. We must hold those catches though, this element can make the difference as we all know. The spirit in the team was at it's very best and we stuck to the task of batting out our overs."
