Redbourn IV v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 13 Jul 2013 at 1 pm
Match was Drawn
Match report
After Town won the toss, Khetia elected to bat against last season's title rivals in what promised to be a close encounter.
An excellent start from Town saw Kunal Patel and Ravi Ramawat race along before Ramawat fell with the score on 63 off 12.5 overs. Khetia came to the crease and the scoring continued to motor on a hard deck with a lightning outfield. Another 50 partnership and a landmark innings for Patel saw him reach 50 for the first time for Town.
The very next ball Patel perished well Khetia fell soon after the trademark middle order collapse ensued, with Town tumbling to from 124 for 1 off 23 overs, to 152 for 7 off 34.
Cue the recovery from the solid Parmar and Vadgama as Town moved back to respectability before a final cameo from the improving Meeth Katira to push Town onto an intimidating 222 for 8.
In response Town began well with Vadgama and Parmar both collecting early wickets. A brilliant innings from Redbourn skipper Pritchard proved though, why Redbourn had been such a force in recent years.
Although Town's bowlers were able to chip away at one end, Pritchard was in dominant force and made the most of several dropped chances to race to a magnificent 129 no, Redbourn making a total of 199 for 5 off their 43 overs.
Skipper Khetia said after the game - 'Sometimes it simply isn't your day. Another day would have seen every catch stick. All things considered though, a draw was fair and ultimately we're only 19 points off promotion places with all those teams still to play.'
