Old Camdenians III v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 07 Sep 2013 at 12.30
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 2 wickets

Match report Town 3s travelled to Old Camdenians for what was arguably the biggest fixture in their brief history.

Having won the toss, Khetia chose to bowl. The usual suspects of Vadgama and Parmar set about the Camdenians top order making the most of what was proving to be a very suspect wicket. Town had their opponents 7 down until some excellent hitting from Singh took the total to 137. When Singh was eventually snared by Taz Katira, Town were given an early Christmas present as it transpired the home team only had 9 players.

In response, Town looked to make light work of the chase with Kunal Patel carrying on his good form. The opening pair scored quickly until Ramawat was the first of many Town batsmen who fell foul of the variable bounce. The mini collapse that followed soon silenced the Town players who were increasingly aware of the prize that lay in wait.

Enter Dave Harding and Nic Patel who began a remarkable turnaround pushing Town ever closer to the total. When Patel was brilliantly caught by Britain though, Town were reeling and when Harding was bowled around his legs the vibe changed on the bench as Camdenians piled on the pressure.

Never trust a batsman to do his job though!! Enter the scourge of the Camdenians batting innings Mitesh Parmar who scored a vital 17 not out with Minesh Vadgama chipping in well as Town closed in on the finish line.

As Vadgama hit the winning runs, the players stormed the pitch knowing the first half of their battle was won.

Delighted as they were though, ever Town player knew what has at stake across the county, as former foes Wheathampstead took on arch rivals Boxmoor. As the players anxiously hammered the refresh button on all manner of smartphone, it was club chairman Ben 'Ace' Rawson-Jones who saw the result come through first.

Wheathampstead had beaten Boxmoor and crucially restricted them to just 8 points. Town were in 3rd place, by 1 point... and promoted to Division 11!!

The celebrations rolled on deep into the night as the club celebrated another fantastic season for all 3 teams.
