Northwood Town Cricket Club Sunday XI v Ruislip Victoria on Sun 28 Apr 2013 at 1.30
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 87 runs
Match report
After winning the Toss, Town elected to bat. After an initial loss of wicket, Loomba and Sangeet looked to rebuild with a 50 run partnership. Rajul patel joined Loomba at the crease after Sangeet hit one down the throat of extra cover. After Loomba fell short of a half century chasing a wide one, Rajul showed he means business this year with a patient and timely knock of 62 as wickets fell around him. The middle and lower order didn't provide too many runs but town were able to get to a very competitive total of 188.
In the freezing cold, town took the field with a solid opening bowling partnership of Furmenger and Parmar. Parmar really piled the pressure on with a couple of early wickets and Furmo joined in with a couple too, one of them being a dropped caught and bowled chance that went on to hit the stumps at the non strikers end resulting in a run out! The consistent bowling continued with the remaining bowlers bowling a very tight line and length to restrict Ruislip Victoria to just 101 all out.
Skipper Loomba spoke after the game: 'It was an excellent performance, the 62 scored by Rajul was key to have something to bowl at. Bowlers didn't look rusty at all and bowled very tight, the whole team fielded exceptionally despite the arctic weather conditions and I feel we will be taking this winning momentum forward onto the league next week.
