Match report Northwood Town's 1s picked up a hard earned draw against a strong Letchworth Garden City outfit in a high scoring game at Chestnut Avenue.

Having won the toss and put Letchworth GC in, Town started in determined fashion with Lawrence (2-33) and Whyley (1-28) bowling tight lines and picking up a wicket apiece. Town then let Letchworth GC off the hook by dropping Munson on 0, with their number 4 going on to score a valuable 68. Krunal Patel (3-70) joined the attack and earned 3 wickets with some tidy off spin before some hard hitting from Letchworth GC's skipper in the last 4 overs took the away side to a commanding 254 at the end of their 47 over innings.

Town started the huge run chase in positive fashion with Kyle Lawrence and Raj Ahluwalia putting on an outstanding 130 first wicket partnership. Whilst Ahluwalia (52) anchored the innings with great skill and control, Lawrence (75 off 90 balls) was destructive in his hitting, displaying an array of high quality strokes as Letchworth began to glance nervously at the scoreboard. A flurry of middle order wickets put the run chase beyond reach but Town continued to bat positively as Krunal Patel (20 off 25 balls) and skipper Michael Lister (31 off 19) pushed Town towards a good total. Town finished on 191 for 5 after the allocated 41 overs, securing a well deserved draw.

Lister was pleased to see the batting improvement and praised the team's efforts, "It was a good all round performance from the team today and we deserved at least a draw. It was just a shame that we let it slip in the last 4 overs of their innings - we need to work on how we deal with big hitters that look to attack length bowling. We're improving every week and the batting was a real plus today, several players are coming into some form and if we keep up the effort levels a win shouldn't be too far away".
