Match report Northwood Town made it two wins in a row after a scintillating all round performance away to Southgate Adelaide.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Town knew that they again needed to post a score of around 200 to be competitive. A patient and extremely well crafted partnership of 81 from Raj Kotecha (41) and Andy Burt (46) set Town on their way, both players looking in fine touch until falling just short of what would have been deserved half centuries.

Town never fully got away from the opposition and some tight bowling pinned the Town batsmen down for long periods. However, a swashbuckling 38 off 28 balls from youngster Mikhil Patel set the game alight, an innings that included an inside-out lofted cover drive for a huge 6 that had every one of the onlooking Town players jumping to their feet in astonishment. The team had delivered again and for the second weekend in a row posted an imposing score of 203 from the allocated 53 overs.

The Town boys went out to field with a spring in their step. In the huddle, skipper Michael Lister asked for a committed fielding display and a disciplined first 10 overs from the opening seamers Veer Vadgama and Kyle Lawrence to ensure that Southgate Adelaide were on the back foot in the run chase. The opening bowlers duly delivered with a fantastic display of line of length accuracy, Veer Vadgama (3 for 64) removing both opening batsmen for ducks. However, with the opposition number 3 posting a hard-earned 50, Town never had it all their own way. The introduction of spin put Town back in control, and after 2 good catches from Akshay Loomba in the deep and an incredible one handed diving catch from Krunal Patel at short cover, the fielding side could sense that another victory was on the cards. Town's team effort had been superb throughout the afternoon and they ramped up the intensity in the field once again to secure the final wickets with just 4 overs to spare, the number 10 eventually holing out to Loomba on the boundary to give the vice captain his third catch of the afternoon.

Northwood Town's captain Michael Lister was delighted with the performance and the result, "Our batting is now looking much stronger and it's no coincidence that each time we've batted our overs, we've posted 200 and won the game. The runs rarely come easily in this division so you have to apply yourself to the task, and that's what Raj and Burty did today to give us the platform to attack in the last 10 overs. All 11 players battled hard in the field and with the bowlers now also showing much greater consistency we will take a lot of confidence into the next game against Bushey, and we'll be looking to cause an upset".
