Match report The Northwood Town Sunday XI visited Chesham this week for their second game of the season against very friendly and receptive hosts, who's team had a real family feel about it. Town lost the toss and were invited to field on a flat pitch with short boundaries in hot and sunny conditions. Ali Ghaffar wasted little time, quickly removing one opener and getting Town off to a flyer. Chesham fought back well in the shape of D.Hughes and J.Bradbury before the former was caught well by Rizvi off the bowling of Harshil Palan. Then came a fine moment of cricket as Bradbury reached 49, Minesh Vadgama produced a fine spell of 20 dot balls in a row, backed up by solid team fielding, to mound insurmountable pressure onto the batsmen who finely succumbed and was bowled. Krunal Patel then got into the action taking a quick two in two but some late hitting from a couple more Bradbury brothers made their score look quite respectable. K.P. saw an end to them though firstly through a good catch from Lister on the boundary and then through the returning Ghaffar, who together cleaned them up. After a lovely tea Town openers J.B. and Loomba set about building a solid opening partnership of 70 for the first wicket. Kunal Patel may feel a bit unlucky to be out after umpire Nishil had one of his special moments but things evened themselves out as Loomba reached his fifty with some positive stroke play. The finger continued to be erected until it brought together the classy bat of Andy Burt and man of the match Krunal Patel, who together played beautifully, scoring at ease and never looked in doubt, as they saw Town home to a four wicket victory. Today was all about love for the game of cricket. Even though they'll all tell you it's because they have nothing better to do on a sunny hot Sunday afternoon, I know our lads just can't get enough!
