Match report In an entertaining game at Chorleywood, Town rued missed chances in the field as they fell to a 49 run defeat.

Chorleywood won the toss and decided to bat on a decent track, and got off to a positive start with a 73 run opening partnership. Lister (4-53) made in-roads with four wickets in his initial spell to drag Town back into the game, and a tight spell from Mikhil Patel (1-18) at the other end kept the pressure on Chorleywood and left them 114 for 5 after 30 overs. Chorleywood then kicked on with skipper Hinds hitting a superb 94*, being well supported by the tail as Town's usually reliable bowling went a touch wayward and a few chances went down in the field that could have made all the difference.

An imposing target of 249 was set but Town went about the chase in positive fashion, with Loomba (30) and Mikhil Patel (25) playing in composed fashion against a firey onslaught from Chorleywood's quicks. Raj Kotecha (36) and Andy Burt (39) kept up the good work with some gritty and determined batting and after 30 overs Town were bang on target, being 144 for 4 - comfortably ahead of where Chorleywood were at the same stage. However, Town's lower order couldn't produce the goods in quite the same way as Chorleywood's tail managed and ultimately Town were bowled out for 199.

It was the third game in a row in which Town's 1s had been competitive, and were on target to win, but couldn't quite finish the job. Despite a determined batting display which earned several of the batsmen deserved credit for their efforts, the fact that the team haven't mustered a single half century in three games demonstrates that there is plenty of work still to be done. But it was a game played in terrific spirit against a good bunch at Chorleywood and whilst the boys left the ground frustrated, a full team performance should be just round the corner and the team now look forward to hosting Cheshunt next Saturday.
