Match report After overnight rain had left the pitch juicy and green, Town were astounded to learn that Khetia had won the toss and elected to bat!

Ramawat and Thakrar though, set about digging in and getting Town off to the right start. After 5 overs though, Khetia's instincts were proving right as a relatively sedate attack failed to make a breakthrough or show the pitch to have any gremlins at all.

A good opening partnership from Town saw off the new ball and though both openers fell in quick succession, the rotation of strike and good running was already justifying the skipper's decision as the visitors began to wilt in the heat.

With injury adding to the visitor's problems, Town's middle order all contributed healthily as the scored moved into the 200s. A wagging tail eventually saw Town bat out their overs to finish on 216 all out. Credit should go to Upton for the visitors. His 6 wickets prevented the total being closer to 250.

After a legendary tea, Town took to the field knowing that the performance with ball in hand needed to match the excellent batting. Patel and Syed provided that from the top down, both unlucky not to make breakthroughs in excellent early spells.

The introduction of Silva brought instant success though and combined with Malik, they tore through to top order.

The visitors though, began to show the fighting spirit which had taken them top of the league with McKay testing the garden perimeter defences at the top end.

Another change though brought instant success as Khetia chipped in with 3 wickets. When Patel came back on to clean up at the other end it was all over as Town completed a dominant performance to win by 128 runs.

Khetia was understandably beaming at the end - "To beat the league leaders was always going to be tough, but to do it in this manner is incredible. Most pleasing though, was that it was a complete team performance - everyone contributed well. We're finally starting to play to our potential and it's a very exciting time."
