Match report After the rain came the sun as Northwood Town Sunday XI visited Pinner CC in a game which somehow survived after heavy overnight and morning downpours. Having won the toss, Pinner were asked to bat and through new ball pairing of Syed and Palan, were immediately pinned down as the two exercised their skills ripping through the top order with some excellent bowling and backed up well in the field by the sublime slip catching abilities of Vadgama, who also produced a run out with some quick thinking. It was then over to spin as K.P. and J.B. finished off Pinner, the reliable Kessel never missing a stumping to go with his earlier catch. A target of 94 for us to chase but not before we tucked into a nice and plentiful tea, especially for the bowlers. Town's openers Ravi Ramawat and Kunal Patel looked comfy at first until the former fell to a ball that found some life in the pitch, showing us the target was not going to be plain sailing. Kyle Lawrence, like Vadgama before him came in and looked in good touch before he also mistimed and was caught. Enter Salman Rizvi who knuckled down with Patel and produced some good shots amongst sturdy defence to ensure Town weren't going to give this away. Patel unfortunately fell but that allowed Tailor to hit some runs to see us home with lots of overs to spare. A terrific win today which came from every single member. The fielding was so energetic and at times brilliant. A tough job when it comes to choosing a man of the match. Catches win matches and can you put a figure on how many runs Vadgama's 4 at slip and run out were worth or how about the bowlers who all were excellent. But at the end of the day it always goes to a batsman unless you get 8 wickets of course and although Rizvi didn't get out it was Kunal Patel's innings that contained high class shots but more importantly was composed on a difficult surface so he deserves it. First win of the season. Well done lads.
