Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost by 104 runs

Match report On a mostly cloudy day Northwood Town took on a decent Redbourn. Having lost the toss Town were fielding first and after a quick start from Redbourn a breakthrough was made when Mathur found the edge and an amazing horizontal diving catch was produced by the returning Rawson-Jones. Even more amazing was the fact he got up unscathed after his fetes of brilliance. Runs continued to flow though before Mekwan, Adatia and Patel took wickets along with a couple of excellent run outs from the latter, to put the breaks on Redbourn's scoring which ended leaving Town chasing 281. After a delicious tea openers Ramawat and Firfire got starts but unfortunately couldn't carry on before Vanker did his best to add some runs with Mekwan. When the former fell it brought to the crease Rawson-Jones, who on his return showed glimpses off his old self by hitting consecutive sixes into Dickie's garden. After the partnership ended Krunal Patel also hit some good runs but sadly ran out of partners and Town succumbed to a 104 run loss. A big thank you goes out to those guys who don't usually play for us, who turned up so that we had 11 men out there. If we'd taken a few more of our chances we might have been closer but overall you can't fault the effort of the players today. Great to see players like Ben coming back and some positives for next week to take forward. A big thank you to Krunal Patel, who did a great job as stand in skipper today for J.B who was at a wedding but still got down to make the teas and watch his beloved Sunday team play. Plus thank you to Maulin for doing all the washing up for us. A true clubman! And a special mention to Richard Kessel who unfortunately ended up with a black eye after being hit by a ball on keeping duty for his team but still came back out to field even though he was injured. A warrior effort. We need to take some heart and inspiration from these guys.
