Match report As the clouds gathered on a chilly day, Northwood Town Sunday XI kicked off the season with an unfortunate loss to a friendly, dogged and fine spirited North Harrow CC. Town lost the toss and were asked to bat on a green looking wicket. Openers J.B. and Loomba got the innings off to a decent start with 70 put on for the first wicket, the latter mentioned going on to make a fine half century. A few wickets then fell and a little bit of momentum was lost before Pandey and Katira got stuck in and played some good attacking shots to wrestle back some impetus. Adatia then joined Katira at the end to help Town up to a decent score of 185. After a hearty tea it wasn't easy taking the field and North Harrow got themselves off to decent start. Syed was able to make the break through with some good bowling, before K.P and Lawrence put the breaks on their progress. However the North Harrow batsmen dug in and were able to do enough to keep the score board ticking even though Town were starting to pick up wickets more regularly. With 9 down and 40 runs still to get a win was in sight for Town but the final paring dug deep and had a bit of luck along the way to see it home with a couple of balls to spare. As I say an unfortunate loss for Town who should have wrapped up the game. If we were being harsh we could have saved a few more runs and not dropped the ball on the helmet, bowled a few less wides and scored a little more but for the first game of the season not a bad run out for the lads.
