Match report Northwood Town Second Team came up against a strong opposition in their Berkhamstead counterparts.
Winning the toss stand in skipper Daly chose to bowl on a very wet wicket. Town started strong, with Mihir and Sajid beating the bat regularly but unable to get the first wicket, despite some chances. Much like last week town faced a good opening partnership. This time Berko reached 84 before losing a wicket, Although they did have a man retire hurt after a slip.
The bowling changes saw Daly and Syed try their hand and were both rewarded with a wicket. Syed bowled a long spell and did well to pick up another without conceding much. It was then Mapara given a chance down the hill and he did not disappoint. Bowling great lines to threaten constantly it was no surprise he picked up 5 for his efforts. Mihir returned well bowling full and picking up wickets daring the batsmen to take him on.

Town finished the innings well and limited Berko. The last 5 wickets falling for just 8 runs. We let them off the hook with their two half centurions given multiple chances, each with one on single digits though. 172 seemed a good total on the wicket we had.

In reply town lost both openers early but Mo played well against some very disciplined bowling. With another wicket gone Harshil rebuilt well with a 35 run partnership. When he fell the Town batsmen found it difficult to stay at the crease with the exception of Mapara. When Mo fell it seemed over but Mapara batted well and patiently but it wasn't enough as he ran out of partners. Towns tail collapsed in disappointment. Credit to Berko for some good bowling but many of us should have done a lot better.

"We really could have put up a lot more fight and we were sloppy in the field during parts of the game. My first game as captain was fantastically supported by the players however, and we showed some great spirit coming back in the field the way we did. We all made mistakes, me as captain included (tricky job) but we can learn from these and I wanted to thank the boys for their support. Clear man of the match for Nish!"
