Boxmoor III v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 11 Jun 2016 at 1pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost
Match report
NTCC 3rd XI travelled to Boxmoor to what proved to be a really bad day. Boxmoor won the toss and elected to bat first. Town started well and M. Parmar taking a caught and bowled of the dangerous looking D. Webb. After this first wicket Boxmoor batsmen instead of dropping their heads regrouped and pushed the ball around. They stepped up a few gears and so P. Pandey was introduced and got the wicket of their number 3 bat. This saw the introduction of the J. Thompson, he started ‘slowly’ nudging a few singles and then put on his IPL hat and smashed 4s and 6s. He raced to 50 in no time. Between J. Thompson and D. Cope they took the game away and put Boxmoor in the winning seat. Town went on to get a few more wickets but the damage was done.
After a lovely tea, Town knew they had to make a good start and bring their A game. Apart from S. Rizvi showing good form it went horribly wrong for everyone. Man of the match J. Thompson picking up 3 wickets and Boxmoor turned the screw and had Town all out for an embarrassing 58.
Stand-in skipper Tailor was left frustrated and disappointed and mused “Today Town just didn’t show up, flat in the field, no one wanting to stand up and be counted, bad luck and a certain J. Thompson turned up for Boxmoor, we were totally outplayed. The words after the game should still be ringing in players ears and be used to start playing with the confidence and desire we all have.”
