Match report On a very warm summers day, Northwood Town lost the toss and were to field first.

Town got off to an excellent start with Lawrence bowling extremely tight lines and was complimented with some good bowling from Daly and Sajid who shared the end down the hill in the first 20. Town looked in a really strong position with Harpenden reeling on 75-4 off 20. Enter Finch and Wade who built a fantastic partnership, punishing anything loose and turning the game in the favour of the away team. Three very tough caught and bowled chances went down and the Harpenden pair capitalised on their fortune to get a mammoth score of 273.

In reply, Town always believed they could chase this down with the track being flat and not offering too much for the bowlers. Unfortunately Town were unable to put on early pressure with the loss of regular wickets. A good partnership at the end from Vadgama who continued his excellent form with the bat and Suryanaryan gave Town a glimpse but they were left with too much to do as Town fell short by 59 runs to record their third loss of the season.

Loomba spoke after the game: It was a really tough day at the office today. After the first twenty overs the bowlers struggled with their lines and credit to the Harpenden batsmen who put the bad balls away. We always knew the chase was going to be tough but once again we surpassed the 200 mark which is unheard of for a Northwood Town team to do that in the first three games of the season judging by start of season performances in recent years. We know a win is around the corner and need to continue doing what we are doing well but our bowlers need to work on bowling more consistent and tighter spells.
