Match report Northwood Town made the long commute to Broxbourne in a must win game for both sides.

Losing the toss, Town took the field. Coming into the game on the back of a brilliant bowling and fielding performance despite missing regular bowlers, Town picked up where they left off with excellent bowling and fielding from everyone, particularly young Wasi bowling an excellent spell and taking a brilliant catch to dismiss the dangerous O'Sullivan for 32. Maulin continued his good form in the 1s with a consistent spell full of variation and was complimented on the other end by his brother, Krunal, spinning his way to two wickets and only conceding 20 runs in his 10 overs.

In response, Town were quietly confident going into bat chasing 164 on a good batting track. Haji and Loomba looked confident at the start, building a platform until young legspinner Oakes getting both openers out stumped in his first over to put some pressure on Town. Thankfully, ex captain and in form batsman Michael Lister took it upon himself to battle his way to the target despite wickets falling around him at regular intervals. Once Michael was dismissed for 38, Maulin Patel came to the crease and got the job done with a mature 35, seeing Town across the finish line and securing a valuable 30 points.

Loomba spoke after the game: 'It has been a tough season but nothing before today really mattered, we knew we had to get the 30 points and we did. With teams around us winning too, we are only 12 points off bottom despite the win so next week is another must win game. The guys are really focused and we believe we have what it takes to have a successful end to the season to secure our place in the division next year.'
