Match report In the final friendly before the league campaign kicks off the 1s were asked to bat first on a hard pitch with plenty of patches of grass and cracks.

The 1s had a hopeless start with the pitch doing all sorts with the new ball. Balls were popping, pee rolling and seaming and an embarassing result looked on the cards at 24/5 and 50/7. Enter new member Suryanaryan (Sunny) and Maulin who had a beautiful 103 run partnership to completely turn the game on its head. Taking the attack to the bowling side and playing with a 'nothing to lose' attitude, the Patels quickly accumulated runs to put town as favourites scoring 162 from 40 overs.

In response, the town bowling was magnificent from start to finish. The bowlers never allowed a partnership to form and took wickets at regular intervals. Daly and Lawrence used the new ball really well and got Town off to a great start, they were well backed up by Shah who was making his 1s debut against his former club, taking the key wicket of his ex captain and Maulin whos line and length picked up another couple.

Overall it was a good performance but still highlights the fact that the top order need to take more responsibility with the bat going forward into the league season.
