Match report On a cloudy day the NTCC 2's travelled to Northampton Exiles for our final warm up game before the season got underway. Having lost the toss Town were inserted on a wicket that was far harder to bat on than it first looked, not that openers Pandey and M Patel were bothered as they took to the task of setting us a solid foundation with Janardhanan also taking up the mantle at 3. With the scene set, nothing entertains more than an explosive Rizvi as he sent the ball to all parts in a magnificent unbeaten display which allowed Town to reach a very defendable total of 173. After a lovely tea from our fine hosts, opening pair Syed and Malik produced an outstanding display of seam bowling with both unlucky not to have taken far more wickets but most importantly gave away hardly any runs. Wasi then came on and also bowled with great threat and was even more unlucky not to take a wicket especially when skipper J.B. dropped an absolute dolly off of him which confused even the batsmen and thankfully led to a run out. Both spinners (Ram and Harish) were threatening in their spells and were backed up by a couple of fine catches from behind the stumps by our legendary keeper Haji. M Patel joined in with a fine display at the end and whilst restricting the runs, was able to collect a few wickets to see that we defended our total. It was a very tight win in the end but a win it was and we can all take a lot of positives and this momentum into the league. Most impressive today was our character and how we stuck at our task throughout. Top effort lads.
