Mill Hill Village III v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 09 Jun 2018 at 1pm
Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost by 5 wickets
Match report
On a cloudy but warm afternoon The Mighty 3s visited Mill Hill Village in what was a good spirited encounter. Town won the toss and decided to bat first on a decent looking track which offered something for both bowler and batsman. Unfortunately Town's batsmen didn't make full use of the opportunity as wickets fell regularly to Mill Hill's bowlers with Bentvelzen and Lal putting up what resistance they could. When both fell Geet Patel was able to add some late runs to take the total past a hundred but ran out of partners as Town were bowled out for a below par total. After a lovely tea opening bowlers Pratik Patel and Geet Patel were able to keep things reasonably tight and were both rewarded with a wicket each in their spells. Myring then came on to good effect and was able to snare two more batsmen but Mill Hill were already close to the required total and were able to go on to achieve it despite Mapara picking up a late wicket. We didn't bat very well today despite previous good efforts and that is what cost us the game. Too many of us threw our wickets away rather than waiting for the bad delivery and subsequently were bowled out with a lot of overs still remaining. It was good however to see young Dominic Jones get his first bowl in senior cricket along with Shaw hitting his first runs. Hopefully next week we'll bounce back and perform like we know we can.
