Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v Harpenden IV on Sat 18 May 2019 at 1:00 PM
Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets.

Match report Town hosted Harpenden IV at chestnut on a cloudy day. After winning the toss, town decided to put the opposition in and make use of overcast conditions. New ball was shared between Malik and Patel who straight away found the rhythm. Harpenden openers tried to take on anything full and got few boundaries before a beautiful yorker got Harpenden's opener castled. Another quick wicket fell, courtesy of Brahmbatt who took an excellent catch of Malik. Both Malik and Patel bowled beautifully and kept things tight as the scoreline was 24/2 in 12 overs. Patel was unlucky to not to pick any wickets and finished his spell of 9 overs for 28 runs. Bowling change introduced Mapara and Brahmbatt and they both continued the bowling momentum and were soon rewarded with a wicket each. At the drinks interval, Harpenden were 54/4 in 23 overs.

The trend continued and town kept on bowling some tight line-lengths making scoring very difficult. The wickets kept tumbling at the regular interval and introduction of spin duo continued the script. Just when it was looking like Harpenden would struggle to cross 90, a late assault by no 9 saw them cross 100 and Harpenden ended their innings on 118/10 in 44th over.

After a DIY tea, town openers Ramawat & Gairola started the innings and Gairola soon got into the act by playing freely and started to put anything short, out of park. Soon town were 50 without any loss in 10 overs. Gairola got out trying to play one shot too many and Ravi Kotecha didn't waste any time in the middle as Mapara was waiting with a G&T in the balcony. Pandey joined Ramawat in the middle and started to rebuild the innings. Pandey who looked in a different mode started to play his shots early on and soon overtook Ramawat in the scoring. Just when the game was about tobe closed, Ramawat got out trying to match Pandey. Raj Kotecha did the formalities with a beautiful straight drive, winning the game for town by 7 wickets.

It was a dominating win, laid by some excellent bowling by Malik, Mapara & Anjum leaving a cake walk for the town batsmen or a 'G&T' walk for few...

Town will be traveling to Harpenden Dolphins next Saturday for a tough game that will decided the table toppers.
