Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost by 148 runs

Match report With lot of rain overnight on Friday it was looking unlikely that Town’s game against table toppers Parkfield & Headstone would go ahead. But knowing sunny afternoon was forecasted game went ahead in which Town was the toss and decided to bowl first looking at wet conditions. It was a proud moment for K Lawrence skippers Town for the first time.

Although K Lawrence and J Daly started well Town struggled to make an early breakthrough. Opening bat Ramu for Parkfield & Headstone was particularly destructive putting away any loose deliveries. They quickly raced to 100/0 in 19 overs. Town also didn’t help themselves with sloppy fielding yet again dropping some easy catches. C Silva making his return to the team after a brief retirement quickly settled down to make a breakthrough. M Patel from one end bowled well without any luck or wickets. C Silva finished his 10 over spell with 41/2. It was clear the pitch wasn’t looking too difficult to bat on. Introduction of K Patel brought more wickets and together with J Daly who bowled in death overs restricted Parkfield & Headstone to 256 all our.. K Patel with impressive figures of 36/3 and very well supported by J Daly who finished with 33/3.

What Town witnessed at the break was bit of a history as Mikhil Patel prepared some wonderful tea (Thank you Tesco meal deal). Description of Town’s batting is going to be as short as the actual inning which lasted just 24 overs. With wickets falling at regular interval Town struggled to score any runs eventually getting bowled out for just 108 and a well-deserved win for Parkfield & Headstone.

K Lawrence spoke after the game: This defeat was hard to take. Yet again below par fielding display coupled with bad batting display cost us dearly. We’re still 3rd in the table so we will continue to fight till the end.

Next for Town is a spicy fixture against Leverstock Green looking to get back to winning ways after two losses.
