Northwood Town Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets.

Match report Town 2nd XI welcomed Pirton on a lovely British winter day - persistent rains, temp south of 15C, dark, muggy, windy etc. A perfect day for a game of British cricket. Town won the toss and elected to field.

Malik & Patel started the innings and Patel got the break-through in his 1st over by putting the ball in the good areas. Pirton no 3 walked in with clear intent and started playing his shots and it was evident that he had plan 'A' only. Patel bowled beautifully and kept on tight line & length and was rewarded with wickets in each of his first 4 overs. At the end of 10 overs, Pirton were 41/4. Malik who was on the receiving end from No3, produced a beautiful deliver that took the edge of the bat and Ramawat took a diving 1 handed catch in the slips but Town were unlucky as Umpire couldn't see things clearly.

Madhavan was introduced into the attack and straight away he kept the No3 on a leash as the batsman found it difficult to smash Madhavan, a plan was set and it payed-off when batsman No 3 got caught at deep mid-on by a good catch from Anjum. Mapara along with debutante Tripathi bowled well and wickets kept tumbling at regular interval and Anjum cleaned the tail. Pirton ended up scoring 114 and got all-out in 33.2 overs.

A quick break and Town started their chase. Aware of the fact that conditions were tough, both openers started cautiously but Ramawat got out early while Gairola hung in there and waited for the loose deliveries, Pandey joined in and together they added 12 runs before Gairola also got out. Aggarwal walked in at 4 and after initial caution, started playing aggressively and build a partnership of 50 runs with Pandey. Just when victory was in sight, Pandey got out making way for Verma who was eagerly waiting so far and smashed 16 in 5 deliveries and crashed Aggarwal's hope of a 50.

Town won the game comfortably by 7 wickets. A fine bowling performance earlier in the innings by Patel, Madhavan & Anjum and good knock by Aggarwal during the chase.
