Match report A clinical win by the 3s this week. Superb batting, bowling and fielding all round to ensure a comprehensive win over Hatch End 2s.

Town lost the toss and were asked to bat on a damp sodden track. Initial concerns of bounce and unevenness were rapidly dispatched by openers Lal and Tushar by removing the shine off the new ball and setting a platform of 60 runs off 12 overs. By the time both openers had departed (caught & LBW) the score had risen to 96 runs from 21 overs. A 3rd wcket partnership (93 runs)with young Keeran (61) who peppered the boundary and spliced and splayed the fielders accelerated the score to 188 in 34 overs. In recent typical 3s fashion, the depth and power of our batting continued with several lusty and daring blows from Kishan (28 not out) and Arav (12) all the while being supported humbly and magnanimously by Mairaj (28) at the other end. Town ended their innings on 235 from the 40 overs - a total performance by the top and middle order batsmen.

After a tea of samosas and wenzel doughnuts, Town took the field to defend what could have been a chaseable target given certain short boundaries. Openers Bahadur and Arav pumped up the pace and kept the batsmen guessing. After some on field guidance Arav changed his bowling line to "round the wicket" and proceeded to demolish the middle stumps of both openers. A bowling change bought on Krunal Puwar who's line and length frustated and extracted three more wickets with the oppo realing at 92 for 5 off 25 overs. A win was now in sight and Town kept the pressure on through some excellent fielding and catching. Rudra bowled his usual exemplary line and length and was duely rewarded with one wicket. It was left to Kishan and Harry to tighten the vice and restrict the oppo to 142 off their allotted 40 overs.

A fantastic win to end the playing season. Everyone played their part with both bat and ball and the team won. It's been an honour and privilege to lead the 3s this season. Well done chaps !
