Match report
Herculean effort to get within 20 runs of the target (196). A gutsy and brave performance all round especially from the colts and younger members new to 3s this week.

Town won the toss on what was a deep green grassy knoll and inserted LG to bat. A fabulous start by Rudra to capture a wicket in his first over however their upper order batsman had a game plan to barrage our opening bowling attack with wild swings and bludgeoning cross batted baseball like shots, making field positioning extremely tricky. Combined with some dropped catches LG were cruising to towards a 200+ run chase with the score at 85 for 2 after only 15 overs. Rudra could only manage to bowl two overs due to a fielding injury and the captain bought on new talent of Maaz and Saras to try and stem the run flow. Saras bowled his guise of leg-spin and took 2 wickets in 8 over spell for 28 runs. At the other end Maaz bowled a tight line and length making the batsmen play and miss on multiple occasions and being rewarded with figures of 3 for 26 of his 8 overs. Young Myring also pounded away at the batsmen and earned 2 well deserved wickets. Town had pulled LG back to 154 for 8 off 35 overs, however a tail end onslaught added a valuable 42 runs to the LG innings.

Town started solidly with Lal and Akshar (combined age of 68 years.. LOL !) playing the new ball well and scoring sensibly. Both found the boundaries at key scoring intervals and maintained a 4 an over run rate which would have see Town to the target. Akshar played beautifully for his 36 and Lal fell at 35 just as the leg cramps started to bite. Smit continued to maintain the run rate and when he fell Jay and Rudra tried their best to keep the momentum going. As wickets fell the rate rate started to creep , however Mazz came in at 7 and tried to up the run rate , he was joined ably by Myring family but ultimately the score was 20 runs too far.

Lots of lessons this week in all departments , let's take them forward into our next game - well done chaps ! Huge respect for the spirit and positive attitude show on the field.
