Match report On the back of a heavy rain on Friday, town 2nd XI travelled to Stevenage in order to get their campaign back on track. Conditions not ideal but good enough to get the game on and it was reduced to 40 overs game. Credit to Stevenage in ensuring a game could be played on. Town lost the toss and as expected were asked to bat first.

Town were unlucky to loose Gairola early on to a miscalculated run. Aggarwal joined skipper Ramawat and together they applied themselves in tough conditions and added 36 runs together before Aggarwal got out trying to slog sweep a straight delivery, Ramawat too followed trying to go over the field which was not the ask at the time. Town were 46/3 in 15 overs. Pandey had a brief partnership of 37 runs with Anjum before getting out in the similar fashion (trying to loft the ball) leaving score line 83/4 in 24 overs. Sadagaran walked in middle and started applying himself along with the man who is 'master of this art' - application. Together they added valuable 40 runs before Sadagaran got out with score line 122-5 in 30 overs. Last 10 overs left in the innings, stage was set for a decent total for town and Anjum shifted the gears swiftly collecting 30 runs in the next 5 overs. In the moment of calculated acceleration, a rare lapse in decision from Anjum costed his wicket when he called for a run that was not only tight but wasn't helped with a direct hit. Town tail tried their best and ended up with 167 on the scoreboard before being bowled out in the final over of the innings.

Town opened with Malik and Pandey wanting to make use of the conditions. Stevenage were clear in their intent, anything loose and they latched onto it. Despite that approach, Malik got into his groove and was soon rewarded when he got Mathur into playing a false shot and was caught by P Patel. A double bowling change was made in search of wickets. P Patel and H Halai who was was making his debut for the 2nd XI. After a few nervy deliveries, Halai got into a rhythm and got the other opener caught at gully who was looking dangerous. Patel who has been bowling really well lately got another breakthrough from the other end. Together with Halai they both bowled beautifully in tandem and ran through the Stevenage middle order in the next 12 overs leaving Stevenage score line 48/7 in 20 overs. Considering this was his 1st game for the 2nd XI, Halai showed immense control and composure and was rewarded with 4 wickets.

As it has happened in the past, town got a little complacent and gave away few loose deliveries, infusing a life back into the Stevenage chase - 93/7 in 31 overs. Anjum who was into the attack from the other side finally broke this partnership and finished the tail in the 38th over. In the end town won the game comfortably by 57 runs.

Town needed this win specially after being very unlucky in the past. We know what we are capable of, we need to focus on areas of improvements and work on them. We are only going to get better from here on. Lets take this positivity into the next game.
