Match report NTCC 3's welcomed West Herts 4's to Chestnut Avenue for our first home game of the season.

The day started ominously with Captain Firfire losing the toss again. A new opening partnership were sent out with Smit Patel and Cherian out to replicate the opening partnership of last week. Sadly it didnt work out and Town found themselves quickly up against it 45-4 after 12 overs. Janardhanan carrying on from last week scoring a stylish 37 and once again out to a blinding catch on the deep backward square boundary. Kalhan after a shaky start also found his rhythm scoring a gritty 39. Sadly that was the extent of the batting exploits with the side succumbing for 130 with massive 8.5 Overs still to bat.

After a brief tea the target was to be attacking and take wickets. Joshi once again impressed with figures of 5-021-2 with his left arm variation. He was ably supported by Het 8-1-27-3 but there was little assistance from the rest of the bowling attack. Poor discipline with the balls and equally poor catching meant West Herts were able to accumulate the runs and by the time the Captain introduced the spin of Janardhanan 2.5-0-5-2 it was too little too late.

The game was lost on scoring enough runs. At this level of cricket occupation of the crease and prizing your wicket is vital. Those 8.5 overs could easily have yielded a further 30-40 runs and won us the game.
