Chorleywood CC 3rd XI v Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 23 May 2026 at 13:00
Northwood Town Cricket Club Lost by 8 wickets
Match report
On a hot and sunny afternoon, Northwood Town 3rd XI travelled to Little Chalfont to take on Chorleywood 3rd XI.
After losing the toss, Town were asked to bat first. Krishnamoorthy was unfortunate to fall to an excellent delivery early on, but Jambulingam and Bentvelzen responded positively by building a steady partnership of 49 runs. Bentvelzen was eventually dismissed after a solid contribution, bringing Bharodiya to the crease. Bharodiya settled in well and, alongside Jambulingam, continued to rebuild the innings. Jambulingam played an excellent knock of 44 before his dismissal triggered a difficult spell for Town, with three wickets falling in quick succession during the same over. Srivatsan then helped stabilise the innings and looked set before being narrowly run out while attempting to increase the scoring rate. Webster added some valuable runs towards the closing stages, and late attacking shots from Babukutty and Bharodiya, who remained unbeaten on 46, helped Town post a respectable total of 145 for 7.
Following the interval, Parmar and Babukutty bowled well with the new ball and both picked up early wickets. Excellent catches from D. Shah and Krishnamoorthy behind the stumps helped remove Chorleywood’s openers and gave Town a strong start in the field. Unfortunately, despite several close LBW appeals and some disciplined bowling spells, Town were unable to break the partnership between Chorleywood’s number three and four batsmen. Both players remained unbeaten with half-centuries and guided the home side to victory within 25 overs.
Although Northwood Town ended up on the losing side, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance, particularly with the bat. The team maintained great spirit and energy in the field throughout the match, but ultimately came up against two quality batsmen who took the game away from them.
