Match report Northwood Town held their nerve to secure a dramatic three-run victory over Kings Langley in a contest that swung one way and then the other before ending in a thrilling finish.

Asked to bat first, Town could hardly have imagined a worse start. Rohit Bahl and Deepak Raj were both dismissed without a run on the board, leaving Town reeling at 0/2. When a third wicket fell at 20, the innings was in danger of collapsing.

Step forward Ravi Ramawat and Iqbal Anjum. The pair produced a superb rebuilding effort, sharing a partnership of over 100 runs to drag Northwood back into the contest. Ravi displayed immense patience, occupying the crease for 115 deliveries in a determined 37, while Iqbal played the more fluent hand, compiling an excellent 50 from 87 balls, including six boundaries.

Their stand laid the platform for a competitive total, and although wickets fell regularly once both batters were dismissed, useful contributions from Aashir Rifat (9), Nishant Maniya (13) and Karan Rajani (11), along with valuable extras, helped Town reach 177 all out.

Kings Langley launched their chase in aggressive fashion, taking the attack to the seamers and racing out of the blocks. Northwood responded brilliantly through spin, with Iqbal Anjum (2-30) and Nischay Madhavan (2-35) applying the brakes and forcing the visitors to work much harder for their runs.

Chethan Dulmina anchored the chase with a well-made 64, and a succession of partnerships kept Kings Langley firmly in control. At around 140/5, the visitors looked to be cruising towards victory with wickets in hand.

However, Northwood refused to give in. A couple of quick breakthroughs shifted the momentum, and sensing an opportunity, Town tightened the field, bowled with discipline and created scoreboard pressure. Rohit Bahl led the fightback superbly with 3-27, while Deepak Raj produced a brilliant late cameo with the ball, striking twice in the space of five deliveries to secure an absolutely thirlling win for Town.

With every run fiercely contested and the tension building, Northwood's bowlers and fielders held their composure in the closing stages. Kings Langley were eventually dismissed for 174 in 35.5 overs, handing Town a memorable three-run victory.

After recovering from 0/2 with the bat and then defending their total with determination and belief, Northwood Town deservedly celebrated a hard-earned win built on resilience, teamwork and an outstanding effort under pressure.
