Northwood Town CC 2nd XI won the toss and elected to bowl first, looking to make the most of the conditions. The decision paid early dividends as the bowlers kept things tight and picked up regular wickets to prevent St Albans from building any significant partnerships.

St Albans lost opener Stuart Murray cheaply before Ben Hingston and Daiwik Khedekar made starts without converting them into substantial scores. Debshali Sinha Roy played the standout innings for the hosts, compiling a well-made 47 from 60 balls, while Charlie Knight added an entertaining 45 from just 44 deliveries, including five boundaries and a six. Sam Street also contributed 26, helping St Albans reach a competitive total of 195 all out in 40 overs.

Northwood's bowling effort was disciplined throughout. Tejasvi Srivastava led the attack with 3 for 44 from his eight overs, while Krunal Puwar claimed two important wickets for 35. Stanley Babukutty, Pradip Pandey and Kishan Gordhandas all chipped in with a wicket apiece, and the fielding side backed up the bowlers well with two run outs.

Chasing 196 for victory, Northwood's innings never quite gathered momentum. The top order struggled to establish partnerships, with Bijendra Vaghela, Josef Webster and Karan Rajani all falling cheaply. Pradip Pandey battled for 11, but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

The main resistance came from Mitesh Pondha, who produced an excellent knock of 49 from 78 balls, striking nine boundaries and keeping Northwood in the contest. Jaymin Patel supported well with a valuable 33, while Tejasvi Srivastava finished unbeaten on 11.

Unfortunately, despite those efforts, Northwood were unable to recover from the early setbacks and were eventually dismissed for 164, falling 31 runs short of the target.

St Albans' bowlers shared the wickets effectively, with Charlie Knight producing the match-winning spell of 4 for 26 from 6.3 overs. Prathamesh Deshpande and Jamie Telkman each claimed two wickets, while Debshali Sinha Roy and Stuart Murray picked up one apiece.

One positive for Northwood was the number of extras conceded by the St Albans bowlers, with 40 extras significantly boosting the chase. However, the inability of the batting unit to build lasting partnerships proved costly.
