Match report Northwood Town travelled to Sandridge with their promotion hopes still firmly in mind, knowing that another positive result was crucial as they looked to keep their unbeaten record at Sandridge intact.

Having won the toss, Town elected to bat first and set about putting a competitive total on the board.

The innings got off to a steady start, although wickets fell at regular intervals. Suvin Mekwan made a valuable 33 before being stumped, while Deepak Raj contributed a brisk 20 from just 15 balls. Jesant Halai added 22 and the partnership between him and suvin kept Town in the game taking it deep making sure they play out the overs. The key innings came from Iqbal Anjum, who produced an excellent 55 from 48 balls, anchoring the middle order and keeping the scoreboard moving.

With wickets falling, Northwood needed someone to provide impetus towards the end of the innings. Nischay Madhavan answered that call in style. A brilliant sensible partnership between him and skipper Iqbal made sure that Town batted 50 overs and tired out the opposition on a hot day. Nischay remaining unbeaten on 42 from 65 balls. With Iqbal dismissed soon after scoring his 50 Nischay continued battlingand found useful support from Pratik Patel, who finished 12 not out, as Town closed their 50 overs on an impressive 238/7.

Anjum's 55 was the top score, with Madhavan's unbeaten 42 ensuring Northwood finished strongly and gave their bowlers a total to defend.

Sandridge's bowlers were led by John Murphy, who returned 2/22 from nine overs, while Asif Ahmad and Umair Afzal Khan also claimed two wickets apiece.
It was a very very tricky wicket to bat on, plenty of spin, variable bounce but the batsmen stuck in there and played patiently and sensibly to make sure to bat the full quota.

With 239 required for victory, Northwood would now need another disciplined bowling and fielding display to protect their unbeaten record at Sandridge and keep their promotion ambitions alive.

Sandridge replied with 137 all out from 32.5 overs. Northwood Town’s bowlers kept things under control throughout, with Sajid Shafique Malik leading the attack with an excellent 4 wickets for 26 runs from 10 overs. Jack Daly also bowled well, taking 2 for 33, while Pratik Patel and Iqbal Anjum picked up two wickets apiece.

Sandridge struggled to build any significant partnerships, with Nick Nguyen top-scoring with 22, followed by Uzi Ali (26) and Alastair Taylor (24). The Town bowlers maintained the pressure and eventually wrapped up the innings for 137, putting Northwood Town in a strong position.
