Match report Northwood Town Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI put in a spirited performance against a strong and powerful Markyate CC 1st XI, but ultimately fell short as Markyate secured victory.

Markyate posted a formidable 251 all out, with Northwood's bowlers doing an excellent job of taking all ten wickets and preventing Markyate from batting through their full innings.

Markyate CC 1st XI Innings

Markyate's innings was built around an excellent 83 from 79 balls by Fezan Bukhari, who struck 10 fours and a six. Nasir Khan provided strong support with 48 from 67 balls, while Adal Bukhari added a valuable 36 from 56 deliveries.

Northwood's bowlers fought hard throughout the innings. Kishan Bharodiya was the pick of the attack, taking an impressive 3 for 39 from eight overs. Rudra Shah also bowled an outstanding spell, claiming 2 for 17 from six overs, including a maiden.

Stanley Babukutty took 2 for 57, while Pradip Pandey and Kishan Gordhandas claimed one wicket each.

Despite Markyate's strong batting line-up, Northwood managed to bowl them out, a feat that captain Tushar Shah was particularly proud of.

Northwood Town CC Saturday 2nd XI Innings

Chasing 252 for victory, Northwood made a determined start but struggled to maintain the required run rate as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Vishal Barad top-scored with a well-made 36 from 52 balls, including seven fours. Mitesh Pondha contributed 24 from 32 deliveries, while Kishan Bharodiya made 19 from 22 balls, including three fours and a six.

Tushar Shah added 14 from 19 balls and Kishan Gordhandas remained unbeaten on 13 from just 12 deliveries.

Northwood were eventually bowled out for 152, leaving Markyate with a 99-run victory.

Northwood captain Tushar Shah praised his team's bowling effort and acknowledged the quality of the opposition:

“Markyate is a very strong and powerful team, and we are proud that no one in the league has managed to bowl them all out apart from us. The bowlers did really well.

“Batting-wise, we were up to the required run rate, but once again it was the wickets that we couldn't manage.”
