Match report Town hosted Shenley Village in what was expected to a hot day (wasnt hot as expected, cloudy). Town skipper won the toss and elected to bat on what seemed to be reasonably good wicket. the openers started in their normal style, Ravi being cautious and Rohit in his attacking mode as always. Rohit was out caught trying to hit one too many after scoring a quck 25 with 5 boundaries. Ravi again got a bad bounce (he says). the ball kept lower than he expected and was out bowled. Then as is normally the case with Town, came a flury of wickets and before you know 2 more wickets fell cheaply with Nischay and Keeran (being the nice guys they are) not troubling the scorers much. Nischay got one which bounced a bit more than it should have and Keeran got a slower one from a bowler who was bowling very slow in the first place and he was through the shot and did a nice spin round (showing off his ballerina skills) before the ball reached him and went to hit the stumps. No one could really handle the one that bounced a bit too much from a good length and Town kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Iqbal kept holding on to one end with little or no support from the other and when he got out after scoring 46 there was hardly any resistance after and Town ended with 146 batting only 41 overs, once again not able to bat their full quota of overs.

Shenley started their innings with a bang with Ben smashing boundaries to anything. He wasnt getting much support from the other end but he kept playing his strokes. Iqbal brought in some quick changes to help contain the flow of runs bringing himself on but got smashed in the first over for a four and a six. The other end brought more success with Deepak Raj getting 2 wickets in his first over bringing the oppo to 2 down for about 50 add runs. iqbal struck from the other end getting the dangerous Ben caught at slip with a slow loopy one that turned. Alex and Nikhil joined hands and started building the Shenley innings playing very cautiously before 2 more bowling changes Rohit and Nischay broke the partnership and got both of them out. Nathan kept showing resistance and playing cautiously holding up one end and kept the scoreboard moving. Another wicket by Iqbal to get them six down but it came a little too late. Shenley got the runs with 4 wickets in hand.

once again it was the batting that let Town down. Not putting a prize on their wicket and giving it away when you are scoring well and the team is going at a good run rate is not good enough. The seniors specially have to take more responsibility and play longer and take the new players along. Cant keep making the same mistakes again and again. This brings Town down to 8th on the table and unless players start taking responsibility and not repeat the same mistakes (especially the senior ones) it's not looking good for Town.
