Match report Northwood show tremendous character despite narrow defeat

Northwood Town CC 2nd XI produced a determined all-round performance against Bushey CC 2nd XI, ultimately falling 17 runs short in an entertaining contest.

Bushey CC 162 all out (37.1 overs)

After being asked to bowl, Northwood delivered an excellent display in the field. The bowling attack maintained pressure throughout the innings, restricting Bushey to 162 all out.

The standout performer was Harish Janardhanan, who claimed outstanding figures of 4-23 from 6.1 overs, breaking through the middle order at crucial moments. Viral Patel was equally impressive, returning exceptional figures of 1-14 from 7.1 overs, including two maidens and an economy rate below two runs per over.

Further support came from Tejasvi Srivastava (2-25) and Krunal Puwar, ensuring Northwood remained firmly in control throughout the innings.

Northwood chase 163

Chasing 163, Northwood faced a challenging target and found themselves under pressure early on. However, the side showed tremendous resilience and determination to keep the contest alive.

Valuable contributions came throughout the middle and lower order, with Vishal Barad (22), Krunal Puwar (21), Viral Patel (21) and Aarya Puwar (19) all making important runs. Their efforts helped rebuild the innings and kept Northwood firmly in the hunt as the game entered its closing stages.

The chase remained alive until the final wickets, with Northwood continuing to battle right to the end. Tejasvi Srivastava finished unbeaten on 9, while the lower order ensured Bushey were made to work hard for every breakthrough.

Despite eventually being bowled out for 145, Northwood can take plenty of positives from a performance full of commitment, teamwork and fighting spirit.
