Northwood Town CC Saturday 2nd XI secured a hard-fought 4-wicket victory over Ickleford CC 2nd XI after chasing down 218 with composure and determination.

After winning the toss, Northwood elected to field first and did well to restrict Ickleford to 217/5. Mark Schumann anchored the innings with an excellent 79, while Richard Brown (30) and Adam Ross (36) provided valuable support. However, disciplined bowling kept the scoring under control throughout the innings.

Krunal Puwar was the standout bowler, returning impressive figures of 2 for 30 from 8 overs, while Kishan Bharodiya and Kishan Gordhandas each claimed a wicket. Tight spells from Rudra Shah and Vishal Barad also helped ensure Ickleford never gained complete control despite a solid total.

Chasing 218, Northwood suffered a couple of early setbacks, but Vishal Barad played a positive innings of 45, striking five fours and two sixes to put the chase back on track. The foundation was then built upon by another superb knock from Mitesh Pondha, who remained unbeaten on 66, guiding the side calmly through the middle and closing stages of the innings.

Useful contributions also came from Tushar Shah (29), Ravi Ramawat (22), and Jaymin Patel (10), ensuring the required rate never became unmanageable. Northwood eventually reached 219/6, sealing victory with four wickets in hand.

For Ickleford, each wicket was shared among the bowlers, with Faisal Khan, Scot Crouch, Mark Schumann, Akein Perera, Noah Giggle and Richard Brown all taking one wicket apiece.
