Match report Town travelled to bottom of the table side Hatfield Hyde looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. On a very fine hot day with big boundaries Loomba won his first toss of the season and chose to bat first!

Hatfield Hyde’s bowlers started with great control and made it difficult for Town openers to score runs. Town lost both in-form batsmen V Vadgama and A Loomba when medium pacer M Ismee bowled them round their legs. Something no one could believe or explain! Jesant tried to rebuild the inning with A Burt but lost his wicket trying to up the scoring rate leaving Town on 55/3 in 17 overs. S Modi joined Burt and they started rotating the strike as boundaries were hard to come by. But after adding 30 runs partnership for the 4th wicket A Burt departed leaving town on 109/4 in 32 overs. Town struggled to build any partnership and kept losing wickets at regularly preventing them to increase scoring rate. S Modi was unlucky when he was given out LBW for 35 where it looked like there was a big inside edge. This left Town on 148/7 in 41 overs. M Patel and Town’s best slogger K Patel tried to increase the run rate with good partnership of 53 in just 7 overs both eventually falling exact score of 33 each. Town finished their inning on 204/10 in 50 overs.

After the tea with champions league final kicking off at 8pm Town were looking to wrap up the game early by bowling Hatfield Hyde cheaply. But Hatfield Hyde’s opener S Fernando had other ideas who went after every bowler from ball one and they raced to 50/0 in just 7 overs. S Syed representing Town 1s team for the first time season gave a breakthrough with a beautiful in-swing delivery to send Fernando back to the pavilion. This gave S Syed plenty of confidence and was swinging ball both ways troubling Hatfield Hyde’s batsmen. Usual tight spell from the other end from V Vadgama meant runs were hard to come by and Town were back in the game. K Patel replacing S Syed after wonder 1st spell took 2 wickets but Hatfield Hyde’s middle order took the game away from Town reaching the target of 205 in 45.2 overs with the loss of 8 wickets.

Loomba spoke after the game: It was an off day today with the bat and bowl. Only positive to take from today is Liverpool winning the champions league but we will look to bounce back strongr next week and get back to wining ways!”
