Match report NTCC travelled to Radlett to face the hosts on a true batting pitch with a lightning-fast outfield. Skipper Shah won the toss and chose to bat first, aiming to take full advantage of the conditions.

Openers Tushar and Bijendra provided a solid start, punishing anything loose with well-timed boundaries. The first breakthrough came when skipper Shah, caught in two minds, top-edged a catch straight up. Soon after, Kunal fell to a fine delivery.

Mitesh joined Bijendra at the crease, rotating the strike smartly and keeping the scoreboard moving. Bijendra, playing his natural attacking game, anchored the innings with an impressive 67 runs. Rushi followed, striking some crisp boundaries before an unfortunate dismissal cut short his stay.

Jaymin also added valuable runs, but NTCC’s lower order couldn’t capitalise, leaving the side slightly short of what the strong start had promised. Town finished on 194/9 in 40 overs.

Defending 194 on a flat batting track, NTCC knew Radlett would come out swinging and that disciplined bowling would be key. Openers Rudra and Jeet started off wayward, and Radlett’s openers pounced, slogging freely. It was Rudra who struck first, thanks to a safe catch from skipper Shah, sparking a shift in momentum.

Settling into their usual tight lines, the new-ball pair made inroads—Jeet was rewarded with a spectacular diving catch from Bijendra, and Rudra removed the No. 3 with a sharp one-handed take by keeper Shah.

Change bowlers Stanley and Krunal kept the pressure on, with Stanley grabbing a wicket via another excellent grab from Bijendra. But just as Town sensed control, Radlett’s No. 5 and No. 6 counterattacked brilliantly, punishing loose balls. The No. 6 lived a charmed life, surviving four dropped chances, before Stanley produced a ripping delivery to send him back, bails flying.

Ruchi delivered a superb spell, claiming two crucial wickets, and Ganesh removed the well-set No. 5, caught neatly by Stanley, setting up a tense finish.

Radlett needed 7 runs off the final over. A mix of desperate hitting, sloppy fielding, and a no-ball brought the equation to 1 run off the last ball. Under immense pressure, the batter missed, and a sharp run-out sealed an extraordinary tie.

What a game!

Skipper Shah said after game: “Incredible game and what an effort by all team players and bowlers. It would have been nice to see ourselves on the winning side, but considering Radlett had four players from Division 2, we did amazingly well. Proud of the team.”
