Match report Town travelled to Hatfield for their first game of the season. Mostly a new, not so young, team with many players playing their first game for the 1s so were a bit nervous. Skipper Iqbal won the toss and elected to bowl in overcast condition. The opening bowlers Keval and Jeet quickly got into rhythm and after a few loose balls got right on track taking early wickets. The opposition didnt seem to have an answer to the tight line and length bowling. Hatfield batsmen were taking turns coming in and going back with Jeet and Keval both taking 3 wickets each in their spells of 6 overs each. The fielders backed their bowlers by keeping it tight in the circle and taking all catches coming their way. A bowling change saw Pratik and Iqbal coming in. Pratik immediately got on target and troubled the batsmen. Iqbal was not finidng his rhythm alternating between a bad over followed by a good one. Pratik got amongst the wickets quickly taking 2 wickets in his spell getting the opposition 8 down. This is when Hatfield batsmen seemed to realise they need to stay at the wicket 9finally). A good partnership between Varad and Rory took their total to about 95/9 before Deepak came in and got the last scalp. Very good bowling and fielding performance by everyone.

Chasing a target of 99 to win, Rohit and Ravi opened the innings for Town. Rohit seemed like carrying on from last year, started smashing the ball everywhere and gave Town a flying start. Ravi was playing sensibly passing the strike to Rohit who played 1 shot too many and got caught at mid-on ending with 28 runs. Deepak didnt trouble the scorers at all and got out quickly. Mitesh with ravi steadied the ship for a while before getting leg before wkt scoring 12 runs which included 2 glorious cover drives. Ravi who had been playing sensibly holding up one end and keeping the run rate steady was joined Nishant who was playing his first game for the 1s. He along with Ravi batted sensibly taking the 1s and 2s getting Town very close to the target. Both of them got out unfortunately with Nishant scoring 23 runs and Ravi (who got unlucky as the ball he got bowled to didnt bounce above the ankle) ended with 20. Iqbal and Kishan finished the job for Town who won by 5wkts.

An overall good performance by everyone. batting bowling and fielding.
